In 2009 Linus Wyrsch joined the team of DJs at BreakThru Radio (now www.BTRtoday.com) and took over the jazz show “The Jazz Hole". BTR is the world's leading source for the best independent music on the internet using a unique on-demand programming approach. Being a sought-after musician himself in the Big Apple, Linus embraces a unique relationship with the jazz genre and its musicians, consequently providing the listeners with a backstage pass to the New Yorker jazz scene.
The hour-long show showcases new talents inside and outside of the New Yorker circuit, and every once in a while Linus is able to sneak in a major jazz artist, sometimes accompanied with a short interview. Throughout the years he has interviewed John Clayton, Lew Tabackin, Fred Hersch, Sue Mingus, Steve Gadd, Jojo Mayer, Gerald Clayton, Javon Jackson, Delfeayo Marsalis, the President of Resonance Records George Klabin, Sofia Rei, Sharel Cassity, Mark Sherman, Harvie S, Jean-Michel Pilc, Dafnis Prieto, Randy Johnston, Helen Sung, Gregorio Uribe and many others.
Musicians and fans that are looking for the perfect blend of tradition and innovation should tune in to the show. As of April 2016 “The Jazz Hole” comes out every Sunday (as opposed to every other Sunday), while “BTR The Jazz Hole Live" remains a monthly show broadcasting a recorded live set every 2nd Thursday of the month. You can listen to the shows on www.BTRtoday.com and search for past shows right here, where the shows are linked directly. You can also subscribe to the podcast here.
